Why We’re Adding Out-Stream Capabilities to our VMP

Our mission is to provide a complete video management platform (VMP for short) for our customers. As part of that VMP, we need to be able to serve video in a variety of formats. To date we’ve focused on in-stream video advertising, but recognize that many premium publishers who produce content for non-video environments want to offer engaging video ads. Even publishers who produce video content often don’t have enough in-stream inventory to satisfy demand.

That’s where out-stream video advertising comes in. Out-stream units drive incremental revenues for publishers and, according to eMarketer, those using this format expect it to continue to grow and increasingly move towards programmatic.

We are extremely excited to welcome the SlimCut team to the Telaria family. They are a company focused on out-stream video that aligns with our focus on premium publishers and solving their needs in video. Over the past several years co-founders Damien, Thomas and Olivier have built a strong out-stream technology platform, skilled teams in both Canada and France and exceptional video publisher relationships. They and the rest of the SlimCut team will be joining Telaria to provide our customers with a more complete VMP and help us build new relationships in Canada and France; the company will now be called SlimCut, powered by Telaria.

For our clients, the acquisition of a very talented team of sales, operations and technical leaders will increase the velocity of our software development and enable us to provide the outstanding sales and service for which we have become known. Of course, SlimCut’s high quality standards will continue to apply to our out-stream offering and we will work with partners to ensure out-stream video ads are seamlessly integrated on non-video pages to uphold a positive end-user experience.

On the viewability front, advertisers can trust that out-stream video ads will only play when they are 100% in view and more effectively measure campaign performance. Brands will be able to drive incremental, cost-efficient reach of their video campaigns to users beyond video content, especially as they spend more time on mobile apps and mobile web pages.

This acquisition is another step on a journey to build scaled premium video solutions that are essential to our publishers. We’re excited to be expanding our team and look forward to offering out-stream technology to our customers in the United States, LATAM, APAC and the rest of EMEA in the near future.
